On Silver Law road five miles west of town, a dispute between Ab Wert and Mrs Charles Lynch led to Lynch beating his wife and abducting the child. Mrs Lynch filed for a warrant in Topeka on assault charges. the sheriff offered sympathy and advice.
Nebraska and western towns reported killing frosts last night with minor garden damage. Late corn, fox and garden crops were damaged in scattered areas. Seattle area also saw the season’s first frost but no material losses were noted.
In Leringtos Owens speaker Prof Chas M Alberti and Breckinridge campaign orator County Attorney John K Allen clashed after breakfast in a Davis restaurant. Both reportedly drew pistols before the Proprietor intervened. Witnesses Davis and Albert refuse statements as the incident sparks local excitement.
Public notice urges strong turnout for a four day racing meet starting Tuesday with five races daily. Banks to close two afternoons, admission five cents with free for children and carriages. Mentions BR and Cartwright, a missing local figure now in New York state, and a move to Topeka.
