Springfield reports Battery F B under Captain Craig departed Virden today for Chicago to take part in a jubilee. Colonel Young of the First Misacle volunteers cavalry, in command at Virden, filed a report to Governor Tanser warning that further trouble is probable. Before leaving, miners leaders and coal company representatives thanked Col Young for discretion and judgment in handling the situation. Captain Paul Bueno of troop A left in command at Virden.

Carrol Groom, a member of Company B Twenty-second Regiment, died at his Farmer Kansas home after typhoid fever followed injuries from a fall from the south slope of the state haven last spring.
