Topeka State Journal Incomplete Early Week Page
A fragmentary Topeka State Journal page includes mixed items from Frank P. MacLennan’s column and Associated Press briefs. It references local events, labor notes, oblique political mentions, and a scattered parade of social and civic items with names, places, and dates largely obscured or garbled.
Press Comments on the Canteen and Reform Debate
The piece surveys reform efforts linked to temperance and army canteens, noting political charges, commissions, and congressional questions. It cites Sheridan, editor Allen, antitrust themes, and the press’s stance on government power, labor unrest, and coal region issues without graphic detail.
Fragmented OCR Rumor Sketches Political Mockery and Mischief
A garbled open season fragment describes Commissioner C. W. Morris and a wounded shiner, with aside jokes about Yale students pranking Carrie Nelson Fhay. It mocks women voters and political conspiracies, mentioning Frank Stan and Tam Johnson in a farcical rumor mill.
