Eugene Field Dead in Chicago Morning Shock in Kansas City Reading Plans
Eugene Field, famed Chicago based poet and author, died suddenly at five o clock this morning in Chicago. He had been slated for a Kansas City reading and had just finished a late work on the Chicago News. The death was attributed to a rupture of a blood clot in the heart after a night of illness. Field was 51, survived by a widow and two children.
