W F Mittman shot himself in the chest on the thirtieth floor corridor of the Chamber of Commerce building at La Salle and Washington. He then leaped about 150 feet to the sidewalk below, striking no one but causing a fatal fall. A note in his pocket claimed his wife had wronged him and he planned to take blame, but decided to give her another chance.
