Captain Andrew Jackson Arnoll former Topeka postmaster died at 927 North Jackson street at 2 o'clock this morning after kidney and heart troubles. A Civil War veteran, he served in the Second Indiana cavalry and later established the A J Arnold & Son drug store with his son Edgar C. Arnold. He was a respected civic leader and the oldest druggist in Topeka, having operated 28 years. He was a former presidential appointee and had run for representative in 1872 and 1880, losing in both races.
S. B. Armour head of Armour & Co. packing house and brother of P. D. Armour of Chicago died at his home in Kansas City at 9:30 this morning of pneumonia after a two week illness. Born February 1, 1823 in Madison County New York, he moved to open a Chicago branch in 1870 and helped establish Plankington & Armour in 1871.

Discussions addressed Cuba administration reforms, consolidation of departments, and amending service rules as the president seeks decisions. The Nicaragua canal commission and peace mission to Russia were also touched on along with possible expansion of forces for the Philippines.
New York reports Nicolas Rossi of Peru is under arrest on embezzlement charges. Consul General Bergmann presented a letter from Peru requesting police watch on Rossi, who fled with a large sum. The case centers on an intended arrest aided by a New York commission house.
New York March 28 Immigrants arriving Tuesday in large numbers overwhelm the inlet station and the Narragansett off Ellis Island. Commissioner Mitchie and staff strive to cope with inadequate accommodations as the spring tide of immigration rises to about two thousand daily. Detained arrivals await deportation near relatives while rooms remain crowded at the new immigration station.
Arrangements were completed yesterday for a return engagement of the Hille Grand Opera company with Melba at Auditorium. The program will include Pedict, likely the most popular bill for a Melba night, with the New York Symphony Orchestra to be brought back and a great cast promised.
The San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley railroad company transferred to the Santa Fe company the terminal site at Spear and Harrison streets and adjoining property. The deed notes a price of 3000 dollars for the terminus in San Francisco, with the Santa Fe paying 378000 in total consideration for the deal.
