Hold Up at Emporia at Hotel Whitley

At one this morning two masked men attempted to rob the Hotel Whitley in Emporia. They forced clerk Paul Vickery porter Tesse Reeves and traveler W F Sullivan to surrender cash and lock Vickery in a closet. They failed to blow open the safe and fled, leaving the three men prisoner with no clue to the robbers.

United Mine Workers Seek Contract at Civic Federation Meeting

New York March 26 The industrial department of the National Civic Federation met with United Mine Workers leaders led by John Mitchell to discuss a system of a yearly contract and recognition of organized labor.
