Four women prisoners broke out of Fort Scott Kansas jail last night and were recaptured today. Birdie McCarty, charged with horse stealing, was found hidden under a blanket in the bottom of a wagon driven by Peter Shefay twelve miles away. The remaining escapees were captured near Hammond after a three mile chase. The women confessed that Shefjay Red Taylor and Charles Snyder, all arrested, urged them to pick the jail locks.
