Survey Set Aside by Judge Hazen in County Case
Judge Hazen voided a western county survey made over four years ago by ex-surveyor B A Bailey. The suit brought by William M. Brun against county officials and survey supporters claimed the new line deviated from long‑standing government corners. Bruce, owner of a ten acre tract affected, paid a $10 special tax and sued for recovery. Hazen ruled the survey improper and ordered the costs borne by the survey proponents.

Buller and Sherman strategic parallels cited in Civil War comparison
The Chattanooga Times piece compares Bul ler’s Ladysmith and Pretoria objectives with Sherman’s 1864 Atlanta march. It outlines Sher man’s river crossings and flanking moves, notes Johnston’s defense near Dalton and Kenesaw, and speculates on Kitchener and Buller coordinating to lift sieges in Cape Town and relief for Methuen. It concludes with rail distances to Pretoria and Atlanta and broad notes on British and Boer manpower and timeline.
