In city court Judge McCabe lectured John Jenkins on the duties of a married man after Mrs Grace Jenkins of 611 East Sixth avenue filed suit alleging non support. Jenkins was given ten days to provide support and warned that an able bodied husband failing to support his family may be charged with a misdemeanor and fined at least 100 with a 40 day sentence.
The Topeka Improvement Company well near Shorey bored down 800 feet and encountered a sand layer emitting an oily odor. After advancing 2 more feet through the sand with stromal indications of petroleum, J Hathaws reported this afternoon that the crew feels near a discovery. The well will not be shot until an actual oil is found.
