In Ellinwood Kansas on June 2 about 2:30 pm several tramps boarded a local freight train at Wand and forced the engineer and fireman to surrender with revolvers. Deputies pursued, two tramps were captured after a clash. one was charged with disorderly conduct. Citizens later aided by Marshall Klein chased away 35 suspicious characters near the outskirts, while authorities recovered revolvers dynamite cartridges steel desks and burglars tools from those captured.
Chicago June 4 Fred Burgen, intoxicated after tavern disorder, rampaged through Cite town stabbing Officer Healy, smashing windows and attacking bystanders. He fled, weapon drawn, chased by police into a carpenter's shop where he seized a hatchet before being fatally shot by Chief Retey. He died at St Luke's hospital.
