Hundreds die as tornado sweeps over Wisconsin town with a circus in town. Fire roars through streets overnight and other towns also struck. New Richmond sees about a thousand injured. totals rise as night wears on. Unknown officials tally casualties and damage across affected areas.
A Wisconsin and Minnesota cyclone devastated towns along the Mississippi, with New Richmond and La Crosse heavily damaged. Reports describe collapsed buildings, widespread fires, and numerous casualties, while Minneapolis and St Paul prepared relief efforts and wire communication was disrupted. Local officials estimate dead and injured running high as trains ferry physicians north to aid survivors.
A tornado swept through a Wisconsin town near Barron on June 1 at 6:30 PM, destroying hundreds of buildings and killing a couple, J.P. Howard, in the attack. Many residents fled to cellars and underground refuges as wind ripped brick blocks and lumber yards, with fires breaking out from overturned stoves and multiple injuries reported.

American casualties are reported around 60 as fighting persists amid heavy resistance and counterfire along Cavite and Zapote rivers. The bombardment from warships continues to target rebel positions along the shore.
In a fierce dawn engagement near Las Pinas Gen Lawton led the Fourteenth and Twenty first regiments against insurgent batteries. U S ships Monadnock Helena and Za fire supported, with heavy close quarters fighting along lagoons and mud. Despite fierce resistance the Americans fell back then rallied with two more battalions. reinforcements arrived as the battle resumed later.
Washington reports President McKinley plans a staged summer tour leaving June 16 to New England and July 15 for a wide swing. He aims to review returning troops in the Pacific, tour Yellowstone Park with Senator Carter, and may give political speeches to aid re election. He will not stay on the Atlantic seaboard alone.
Report from Manila states Gen Jaina and aide Lina Pascon Ramon were killed by Aguinaldo guard at his headquarters after a confrontation with the captain of the guard. The attackers drew revolvers and bayonets, ending the conference with Aguinaldo.

FICQUART RELEASED Paris June 13 the chamber finds no case against Lieutenant Piequart in the Dreyfus affair and frees Maltre Leblots after nearly two years confinement.
The petition states Dr W N D Bird of Arkansas City applies for bankruptcy before Judge Hook via Referee Wall. He owes as much as 20000 with assets only a burdened wardrobe. judgments against him total across multiple cities, including a $12500 note to the First National Bank of Emporia. Bird, a veterinary doctor by profession, is currently in Nashville Tennessee with his family.
Aaron Christiant was assaulted by President Lodber with a cane amid the trial. Christiant received four years imprisonment after a formal sentence in the penal court. Judges declared the sentence under the penal code applicable, provoking exclamations from onlookers as the prisoner was remanded to prison.
Washington June 1 dispatches say General Otis orders the Second Oregon to San Francisco by two ships with sick and wounded aboard and a detachment of signal corps. The transport will decide which units sail on arrival of volunteers at San Francisco.
