Calls for separate ticket and platform emerge as Populist factions mobilize ahead of a disputed road to unity.
A Populist executive committee meeting in St Tom’s July plans to discuss tickets and conversion arrangements. Members include Taubenk of Minnesota Parner of Washington Eyelore Davis of Texas Strickler of Nebraska Washburn of Massachusetts Gelther of Alaska Donnelly of Minnesota McMhalin of New York Ranicka of Tadlun. It is likely they will recommend parallel efforts to the national committee and may appoint a temporary chairman.
Governor Stone of Missouri arrives in St Louis to support William Jennings Bryan and to organize opposition among middle-of-the-road voters. A mass meeting at the Lindell hotel Sunday aims to mobilize sentiment against Bryan with Stone and other Democratic allies present.

Reno county backed Troutman and a sudden thunderbolt struck at 1:30 PM causing electrical damage. Lightning burned fuses, shut the Topeka railway plant briefly, disabled Edison ramp circuits, and melted lamp fuses threading into the State Journal office machines.
