New York July 2 Fire discovered on the Hatch Beach and Bensonhurst steamer Tourist soon after leaving the Battery pier. There were 160 passengers aboard including men women and children. Captain Arthur Kilmer beached the boat promptly preventing a catastrophe. Several women fainted and children cried as smoke poured from the forward hatch where flames had gained headway before discovery.
