Washington Jan 22 Four hundred postmasters replied to circulars from Postmaster General Gary asking for savings in office administration for the rest of the year to curb postal spending. Most say their staff could be reduced with minimal impact. only a few oppose further layoffs.
Oscar Strauss chaired the session as Joniah Quincy of Boston led remarks. Letters from Treasury Secretary Gage and governors were read urging free use of intellect and conscience in primary reform. The Viennities of DYEKGame Atortentenflow reported the merger was adopted and officers were elected for the coming year. Oscar S Strauss of New York was named president with Joann Quin Jey of Boston as first vice president.

President sent nominations to the senate including John W. Griggs of New Jersey for attorney general and St Clair A Mulholund as pension agent in Philadelphia. Also named are Selectsterill of Massachusetts as consul of Jerusalem C Wesley Thomas customs collector in Philadelphia Domingo Pappy at St Augustine and Mulholund as Interior pension agent. Griggs is the current governor of New Jersey.
