Pardoned Desperado Shot Wilson County Desperado
Charles Homan, who killed S. Smith after Smith terrorized Wilson County for years, received an unconditional pardon from Governor Stanley. Homan had previously been imprisoned for manslaughter in the fourth degree. Smith, armed and threatening, confronted Homan at his Benedict barber shop.
