Man Arrested After Shootout in Freight Yard
Special Officer Watts confronted Anthony Poecher as he tried to flee a depot freight yard with a crate of chickens. A struggle followed and Watts fired, striking Poecher in the right chest. Poecher was taken to the city jail, where City Physician Mitchell treated a shoulder wound. Poecher said he bought the chickens from a farmer and that Watts had demanded the box be dropped before the shooting.
