A burglar entered after using nippers on the kitchen door, taking Mrs. Sharp's watch and revolver 20 cents in change from a sideboard and money in his pocket.
A major downtown fire trapped 25 fire units and 13 battalion chiefs battling flames that spread from Nassau to Ann street. Windows blew, several workers narrowly escaped, and the Vanderbilt and other tall buildings suffered heavy damage with losses estimated near one million dollars.
