Vancouver reports detail a deadly slide on the Comet Pacific main line at Rodgers Pass in Selkirks. Seven lives lost including agent Caton his wife and two children and operator Carson. Engine wiper Redlicy and one unknown among the dead. Two injured. Sheds damaged. trains held at Glacier and Donald pending orders. Recovery efforts continue as large slides occurred earlier in the day.
A Santa Fe dispatch notes the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway will build a cut-off from a Pecos Valley extension point about twenty miles east of Port Sumner in Guadalupe county west to Yaleta Junction one eighty miles south with the Santa Fe Pacific. The route will carry transcontinental traffic from the east via Kansas to Amarillo Texas and west to Yeleta Junction, saving time and avoiding the Raton and Glorietta climbs.

Seven convicts awaiting transfer sawed through four doors and escaped last night in Wichita. Names include Stewart, Thacher, Murphy, Allen, Howard, and others listed as grand larceny suspects. Weather disrupts search. no trace of others has been found.
