New York December 24 The opening of today's stock market was awaited with anxiety as yesterday's losses deepened and foreign exchanges fell. London quotes for American shares dropped several points as panic spread. Major US issues including New York Central and Denver Rio Grande fell steeply amid heavy selling and margin calls.
