A severe train collision on the Illinois Central Railroad between Irene and Pennyville results in multiple deaths and numerous injuries. Conductor Quinlan accused of disobeying orders. relief trains dispatched from Rockford, with survivors evacuated to nearby hospitals.

Burglars entered Ernest Towne's Jamaica store on a Saturday. Four citizens chased suspects in opposite directions. Misidentification led to gunfire as the parties exchanged fire at cross roads. Towne, James King and Blaine Parmenter suffered injuries from shots, one man bleeding heavily.

A freight train struck and killed a person near Strong City Kansas as crews worked on the New York Central line. The accident occurred around midnight with washouts and damage reported between Hume and Moedia. one track has since been repaired and service resumed.
