The defense today sought to prove the murderer of Mr. J B Collins entered the house by climbing the fence to the coat shed, then to the kitchen and through the unfastened window. The strategy focused on establishing an entry route and potential access points.
The murder trial reopened this morning at nine. Witnesses described courtroom scenes with families in gallery and varied spectators. Defense questions probed Dr Grubbs' actions while cross examination yielded brief, revealing testimony about Collins and Grubbs.

He suggested ending subsidies on the New York to Chicago route and the Kansas City to Newton, Kansas line, as part of a tentative compensation discussion.
Lincoln Neb Dec 2 Col Wim F Bryan left for Savannah to rejoin his regiment. Misforo rough not expire until the 5th, but fully recovered he felt duty to return. Several prominent political leaders including ex-Congressman Towne and Therme C Patterson of Denver had been in conference with Col Bryan during the week.
A British iron steamer Clan Drummond sailing from the Clyde to Cape Town wrecked in the Bay of Biscay off its Liverpool route. Thirty seven passengers were drowned while twenty three crew and survivors were rescued as the ship broke apart near the Cracks. The vessel was built at Dumbarton and belonged to Irvine & Co.
Chairman Riddle denies comments attributed to him in Kansas City and Topeka papers. He states he did not speak to reporters on the subject and finds the attribution foolish and unfounded.
Former Topeka clergyman Dr. Loring dies in New York after years of service. Weather notes forecast fair to brisk winds in Kansas with a shift to westerly. A four year old child in Coffeyville dies in a fire started by matches. Kansas anecdote about a Christmastide drink prize of $22 noted.
