Mr J De Bow issues a statement denying the charge of selling tickets at Garfield park Wednesday picnic. He says he bought tickets for friends, sold some under the fence, and that the tickets were his to dispose of. He asserts he acted within his rights and offered proof.
Atchison on August 27 plans a street railway ride and concert at Forest Park to raise funds for the Corn Carnival. Local Iris will conduct, Young's Band performs, and residents donate time and meals to maximize receipts. Outside workers will help elevate the event’s prominence.
Sangen or Ute Shawnee county district court returns from first extended vacation in five years. Judge Hazen, accompanied by Mrs Hazen, spent two weeks in Salt Lake City and time in Ogden and mountains. He resumes work and says he will be ready to announce his decision tomorrow morning on the Huron habeas corpus case concerning witness testimony in depositions. He notes enjoying the trip but tired of being away from Topeka and mentions meeting Morris L. Ritchie, former district judge.
In Belle Meade, the famed stud farm of Gen W P Jackson, a monument to the stallion Enquirer was dedicated by John I McLean of the Cincinnati Enquirer. About 1000 people attended the event hosted by the Central Wuquirr Household club. J W Gamnes delivered the dedicatory address after a deer drive, with participants returning to the exposition for an evening of activity.
Judge Hazen stated two or three decisions will be announced next Monday and court will adjourn until the following Monday when case calls begin. He will alter the usual order by hearing court cases first and delaying jury sessions until October 1 to avoid disruption during the Fall Festival.

Taneau Alaska August 21 reports via Seattle August 27 that White Pass over Skaguay is a complete failure this year with four to five thousand people stranded along the trail between Salt Water and Dyea. Dyea routes to Klondike progress, Indian pack rates rise, and prospects at Yukon diggings remain rich though fewer workers are needed in Juneau. Weather and season favor early explorers, with a mild winter expected.

Chicago August 27 a small brass projectile five feet deep in the lake off Van Buren street exploded sent a water column twenty six feet high and left dead fish on the surface. Inventors Pfef fer and Darley with backer Edelman promote mirex as a new underwater explosive able to sink ships at set depths without wires. They plan a cannon to launch a thirty mile range shell costing about twenty dollars each and say it could revolutionize naval warfare.
A 15 member G A R detachment from Buffalo marched up Yonge Street in Toronto with the stars and stripes. City ordinances forbid carrying a foreign flag without a First flag. A policeman halted the marchers, they bought a union jack but none would carry it, and a small boy was hired to carry the flag as the veterans resumed.
Wheat fell over five cents a bushel at Chicago and about four cents at New York as prices cracked across markets. Reports say Armour bought No 1 northern wheat to ship to Chicago and Dallas, with a broad market selloff and a delayed recovery later.
