About 230 men left for their homes or jobs, with others following as camp abandonment proceeds. Mine managers anticipate all workers back at work tomorrow.
A cheap excursion will run to Kansas City on Sunday August 29 from Newton McWintela Arkansas City and intermediate points. The service will be limited to Sunday travel with no return tickets and not valid on war trains. Tickets and pricing will reflect distance and demand.
Yesterday a car ran down an incline at the asylum coal yard, narrowly missing three workers Sam Neel Chas Severns and the White. The runaway tore the track wrecking the car and causing injuries as it plunged toward the river. Brakes failed to stop the heavy car in the steep grade. The car was a total wreck and damaged the track in the area.
