Indianaplis dispatch reports the Indiana State Republican convention will be the largest yet, with 1715 delegates and nine officer candidates. Ben Harrison will speak. ex Navy sec Richard W. Thompson is favored for president. Aaron Jones of South Bend leads secretary of state contention. Charles L. Henry of Madison seeks seat against Bynum in the Seventh District.

Washington April 24 Frank Hatton editor proprietor of the Washington Post was stricken with total paralysis at his desk. A doctor said a blood clot formed on the brain and the case is very serious. Hatton was moved to the emergency hospital and later to his home as he remained unconscious and the hemorrhage could not be controlled.
May wheat today sold at the lowest price ever known, signaling a market collapse over three weeks of decline. Traders recall no precedent and some foresee a drop to 50 cents. Ed Pardridge reportedly earned about 250000 dollars and H. C. Rosecrans about 100000 in the sudden market swing.
From Washington April 24 several hundred stands of small arms and repeating rifles were delivered to the treasury department from the war department. The small arms were turned over to Captain Putnam of the treasury watch and the repeating rifles were placed at convenient points about the treasurer's end of the building.

A sensational story claims General Sullivan arranged with the Baltimore and Ohio for moving 5,009 iron moulders to box cars bound for Washington, with a Thursday departure. B&O officials dispute any truth, pending road confirmation and state of the report.
