Ex governor and ex senator James M Harvey died at his home near Junction City Kansas at 12 o'clock Sunday night He was born September 21 1843 in Monroe County Virginia and came to Kansas in 1859 He served in the Union Army captaining a company in the Fourth and Tenth regiments later held multiple Kansas offices and served as U S Senator from 1874 to 1875 He married Charlotte Carter in 1854 and six children survived including Clara Emma Lillian Martha Jeanette and John A He returned to his Riley county farm after public life and was 30 years a veteran of state service
