Judge Horton resigns as chief justice of Kansas to become attorney for Missouri Pacific at twelve thousand dollars yearly. He will join a law firm with Waggener. Judge David Martin of Atchison will succeed him.
Chief Justice Albert H. Horton of the Kaniss supreme court resigns effective April 1 and is named to join the Missouri Pacific legal team in Kansas as Waggener Horton Ure. Judge David Martin of Atchison is appointed to succeed Horton as chief justice, with Martin’s term to end June 1, 1906. Both men from Atchison share district court backgrounds, and Horton will leave Topeka for a Kansas City law practice with the new firm.
A dam at Utica Mining, three miles from Anxoen California, failed yesterday. Fifty feet of the north wing collapsed, releasing a torrent down Antonio creek. Otto Lundt, nearly eighty, perished after fleeing to recover $500 and jewelry as the flood swept his home. Loss is estimated at about $70,000.
United States Consul De Kay at Berlin reports Dr Louis Waldstein of New York has announced a discovery using minute injections of pilocarpine from the Jaborandi plant to stimulate the lymphatic system. He asserts it cures consumption lupus and may aid cancer, with a lupus case relieved after the first injection and almost healed.

Delegates from Onondaga Seneca Cayuga Mohawk Oneida and Tuscarora met in the Long House at Me Ongodaga Indian reservation for the six nations council. About 100 chiefs attended along with warriors and families. Factional breach arose over chiefs chosen to fill vacancies with Daniel Prattup and David Chew as contenders. Sachem Porte alleged a sacred law violation over eldest woman naming the chief and warned the Tuscaroras may leave the six nations. The Senecas backing Patterson threaten a broader split if demands are not met.
W Henderson of Brown Texas buys Tanner & Bro's establish ment and formally assumes control. D Andrews in Topeka represents Henderson. Tanner brothers Charles Amsten and James have lived there twelve years building a strong business based on integrity and a straightforward policy.
The oil market spikes from 1.17 to 18 dollars in a week fueling wild speculation. Prospectors work day and night to capitalize on potential finds, with 1500 new operations and 4 000 dollars per well driving an estimated six million dollars in new expenditure. Standard Oil reportedly buys eight million dollars’ worth of territory from individual producers.
