A Stevenson & Co clerk named Myers disappeared after leaving the city following a theft attempt. He entered Hayden's jewelry and selected a $75 diamond which he promised to pay later, but never returned. He also had clothes made at Hammuls and left unpaid. Peyton, the store forekeeper, notes Myers tried to hawk silk dress goods in North Topeka last week, but the seller could not confirm any transfer of goods.
Attor neys and supporters vow further proceedings to challenge various parts of the income tax law. They plan immediate actions targeting exemptions under four thousand dollars and other provisions not ruled on in the recent court decision. The effort aims to overturn portions deemed unjust or discriminatory.

Boston April 6 Rev Dr Isaac J Lansing pastor of Pearl Street church defended his remarks accusing President Cleveland of intoxication made at Salem. He said statements were based on common report and eye witnesses and vowed to withdraw them and apologize if found inaccurate. He expressed regret to the president and the public.
The late storm caused hundreds of livestock losses from Colo to Cueverne as trains were halted by drifts. Rock Island reports eighty hours of blockage and two rotary plows plus a wedge plow helped clear tracks. Dr Logan estimates livestock losses between 40000 and 84000 dollars as dead horses and cattle pile along fences and tracks. A large force of workers finally moved trains through Towanu Junction area.
Miners threaten to fight operators at the Cioclonati mines in Appalbone county as a militia order looms. A 1000-strong delegation heads toward Mendate to join strikers from Cincinnati Hathourn Mystic Jerome and Seymour to prevent imported workers from entering. Authorities warn of militia if mines stay closed and guns appear.

Thousands of 2 cent pink stamps imitated real revenue stamps circulated nationwide, undermining postal revenue. Officials caution overstatement, noting costs and disposal risks limit profits.

Bentons Hanson Michigan April 9 plans announced to build a six foot wide bicycle path along Sixth street to Morton Hill half a mile. The project funded by private subscription and future paths will be along major streets, marking the first U. S. city effort of its kind.
In Wuertixe West Virginia on April 9 a five story Chapman and Song building and adjacent Hutchinson four story block collapsed after a wall buckle, burying seven workers and injuring some. Rev Father H F Parke is reported under the ruins. Firemen and volunteers battled flames as oil and turpentine risks grew.
Ex president of the First National Bank of Hiswaths failed to appear at the United States Court noon today. Bond of 1600 dollars forfeited. Smalley indicted last October 1803 for embezzling 6059 dollars. Witnesses from Long Island Galesburg and Hiawatha present. Bondsmen Elias Moser and John V. Moore of Hiawatha.
Governor Joshua B. Marvil died at 9 16 last night at his home in Milford Delaware from Brights disease erysipelas and heart failure. Boxer Waters was notified by wire and moved to assume the executive chair. The new governor departed for Dover this morning to be installed in office.
W J Demorest long noted prohibitionist dies in New York after a life devoted to temperance. Other brief items report a $12 100 143 24 balance issue at the Treasury and Mrs Miles improving after a heart incident at Hullach house with hopes for a Govern or s Island residence.
Anna Dickinson testifies in U S circuit court after a week long interval about damages from men who allegedly caused her confinement. She denies intoxicants were used to provoke excitement and describes gifting dresses, endorsing a $5,000 note, and sending a telegram to Jay Gould seeking $1,000,000. She criticizes the asylum and calls a doctor a jackal in heated exchange.
A dozen Apache warriors led by Dandy Jim attacked three white men hunting near their ranch west of San Carlos. The party, including Blevins and his son, sheltered behind rock as the volley came, then returned fire, driving the Apaches away without injuries to either side. The assailants are described as well armed and mounted, with Dandy Jim recently pardoned from Yuma prison.

George Thompson of Subetha, charged with liquor sales without a license, died, ending his case for now. Ed Winner died from injuries after a stake struck him during house moving. The steamer Ethelred arrived in Boston after being fired upon by a Spanish gunboat on its voyage to Jamaica.
