In Great Bend a crowded political scene unfolds as Morlon Albaugh and other candidates vie for support ahead of the county convention. Tension grows among contenders including Smith, Murdock, Burton, and Grattan with strategists planning coalitions and possible deals to sway votes.
A convoluted legal filing by Wichity Kev Apeli Apeli A motte requests ten million dollars in a suit involving Orient Mortgage and Bowie. The motion aims to rectify title and distribute property including buildings lands rights of way and equipment across the United States and Mexico Trust Company. The document, printed on twenty pages, appears with signatures and a note about a related newspaper insert.
Federal Judge Adams set aside the provisional restraining order against the Brotherhoods of Locomotive Firemen and Railroad Trainmen. Dr Roberts, a well known Manhattan physician, died today at noon at his home. He was 65 and among the best known private practitioners in the region. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, with services expected Friday.
Baker reports a reorganized Vinewood Topeka system with new board, $490000 in city railway improvements, a 30 year franchise sought, and long term bonds to fund rebuilding. Outside investors, led by W E Wilson and others, will own the reorganized Topeka Railway, while Baker remains president and Patten general manager.
A fire at Bathas in Bengal’s Calcutta district destroyed Standard Oil property and two related concerns. Damage totals about 1.5 million dollars. Weather notes from Chicago forecast a cold spell beginning Thursday with decreasing temperatures.
President Roosevelt departed Washington at 9 05 AM aboard a special train amid cheers and good wishes for a safe journey. Police and Secret Service guarded the president at Pennsylvania Station and White House while officials and a small entourage accompanied him on the trip to the West.
President Roosevelt plans a 66 day tour covering the United States by rail to meet crowds and respond to public demands. The itinerary includes Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and California forts, with guides including John Moir and Governor Buddy as he travels with limited companionship. He will be hosted by regional reception committees across the western half of the country.
