E H Roach was fined for animal poisoning on his property facing costs under sections 96 and 98 as the second vermin prosecution by the Todway Road Board.
In Perth on Tuesday night E. Fleay known as Largie delivered sensational knockouts to defeat E. Martin of the 16th Battalion and H. White of the Light Horse. The Woondyee crowd cheered as Fleay won both bouts and brought heavyweight honours to Toogoo as Jack Elsdon and Harry Davidson served as seconds.
Fireman Phillips begun holidays last week spending time in the city and Mullewa. Guard Cox is on leave. Guard Fawcett began a three month leave on Wednesday. The Commissioner and staff plan an annual inspection tour to Toodyay in June. Complaints welcomed for better conditions. Repairer J Purser began annual leave. Mr. Ted Burston transferred after a 14 month stay in Toodya to the allie loco.
A birthday gathering for Miss Merle Ferguson was held at Mrs. E Chapman’s home on Wednesday night. Guests included Eileen Sinclair Margery Lloyd Pat Thompson Gwen Smith Bertha Smith Thelma Markey and Mesdames F Ohde J Ferguson plus Messrs Stan Newnham Tommy Tomkins Wallie Clarke-Hall Stan Robinson Eric Ferguson John Ferguson. Cedric Ferguson was absent. The evening featured games acle tennis and guessing contests with birthday greetings broadcast. Merle cut the cake before departure and the party sang For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow amid gifts.
A social evening and presentations honored Hon. P. D. Ferguson, former Irwin Moore member, at Calingiri last week. Over 250 guests from across the electorate attended, with 60 per cent of Country Party members present. A substantial repast followed speeches praising his twelve years of district service.
The Tothyay Cycle Club hosted a Sunday road race with L Chitty winning the five mile senior event, followed by W Chitty in second and B Chitty in third as recorded in the club results.

Mrs E H Hillbrick visited her sister Mrs H Rayner at Newcastle Hotel on Friday and returned to Perth Saturday due to her husband’s illness. Mr and Mrs Carpenter of West Leederville are also mentioned along with another unnamed Mr.
Jones of York visited Mr and Mrs H Rayner. Beans Ltd linked baby competition sees Mrs Sampson nee Joyce Haymes now of Toodyay win first prize with twins. Visiting Mr and Mrs Hillbrick are Mr and Mrs Lee with their daughter and baby. Miss L Richards of Nedlands stayed with her aunt Mrs H Hillbrick.
Mr P. D. Ferguson received an illuminated address from his Parliamentary comrades the Wongan Hats and Dandarragan. Roads Buiras gave him a mantel clock and Mrs Ferguson an autograph album signed by the guests. The evening was very pleasant and the tributes will live in memory.
