A reflection on football as a global sport shaping character. It praises teamwork, obedience, self discipline, and initiative. Local Toodyay youth are urged to embrace fair play, rivalry, and training, honoring the spirit of sport and inspiring past and future players alike.
Dodsworth a Motion Picture Academy award winner screens at Northam tonight and Saturday. Its support is Half Angel. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday feature Astaire and Rogers in Swing Time. An added attraction is Murder in the Fleet.
Roads Board and leading citizens of the town organize a Wednesday May 12 outing at the Show Grounds for Perth children. A football novelty game is planned with a welcome speech by Wear Pollett, chairman. Attendees should bring drinking utensils and parents are asked to provide a plate of refreshments. The grounds open at 1.30 p.m.
A bridge party will be held next Monday evening at the Wendouree Tea Rooms to aid the local Red Cross Branch Light Horse. Sunday features musketry training with troopers reminded that the fall in will be sounded at 9 30 am at the Drill Hall. The order is dismounted.
An informal meeting at the Victoria Hotel discussed winding up a successful season with a social and dance planned for May 26 at the Town venue. The Toodyay Veterans' Cricket Club confirms the season finale celebration and details.
The genial secretary Joe Wroth is working all over town, so the monthly RSL meeting has been postponed until later in the month.
The monthly Road Board meeting will be held tomorrow in the Road Board office on Stirling Terrace. Rainfall data show improved falls in the district with reports of a strong fodder season start. Readings at Toodyay Post Office note Monday 5 points Tuesday 20 Wednesday 30 Thursday 2.
The Toodyay school holidays end today with students enjoying a week of freedom from PE, pencils, and homework. Schools restart on May 17, resuming classes after the break.
On Tuesday May 18 the Director of Education Mr Klein will visit Toodyay with Inspector Box and others to observe a school of instruction. District teachers will attend from Miling and nearby towns. A 3 pm meeting will discuss educational matters with parents Road Board and women's groups. Citizens invited.
Dorcas reports social visits across Toodyay and Wicklow with several locals, guests, and family updates. Ena Daveys visited her parents S Daveys while Jean Robinson stayed with relatives in Clinton Street. Nellie Donegan returned home for a holiday after 18 months away.
