At a Ways and Means Committee hearing in Washington on November 18 the starchrust case drew fire as B J Walton of Corn Products Refining admitted products sell 40 percent cheaper in Britain than the United States and at a loss there. The governor granted a writ of extradition for Alexander Lathan once Ruef’s chauffeur now in Portland Oregon. Special Detective Burns says Lathan is a key witness in the graft prosecution and was bribed with 1000 by Luther W. Brown to stay out of San Francisco courts. Lathan was subpoenaed in the Tirey Ford case but left the state.

Six Miners Killed in Ellaworth Mine Accident
