Rate reductions on Nevada rail lines set to take effect

At a Carson City meeting the board of asylum commissioners appointed Dr J A Lewis of Reno as superintendent of the asylum for the insane with Lewis assuming duties July first. Separately railroad commissioners ordered about a 25 percent class rate cut on Southern Pacific and Tonopah and Goldfield lines effective August 1, and SP to justify passenger fare reductions statewide at a July 12 hearing. Reno Water and Power is summoned to a July hearing to justify rate cuts and water filtration is requested.

Miner commits suicide with dynamite at Ro. Mountain

A miner named Prank Laley at the Blue Jacket camp near Ro Mountain ended his life by placing dynamite on his stomach and detonating it. He had been drinking heavily for two weeks and was despondent. Haley, from Virginia City, has been at the Nugget camp about nine months and is identified in reports.

Big Four Lease Still Shipping Gold Bullion

A bullion shipment valued at 4500 arrived at Tonopah from the War Eagle mill as part of ongoing Big Four ore shipments. Mill reports indicate a full day’s ore output with $6000 value from a 100 foot long stope and a four to eight foot wide ledge. Two miners sustain the mill, earning about 110 per ton.

Butler Theatre Acts Tonight Including Local Singers
