Fire Hydrants to Be Installed at Once by Volunteer Fire Dept
A well attended meeting of the Volunteer Fire Department was held last evening at the engine house. President Charles Cobb led the session as the third horse committee reported the town board’s consultation and willingness to fund a new horse with money already raised. County Commissioner J J M Quillan pledged to cover any deficit from his own pocket, drawing applause. The town board agreed to provide stall and feed. The committee, now including Cobb, was instructed to purchase the horse immediately. A resolution authorized reimbursement for volunteers injured or outfitted during fires. Chief Geo Swasey will confer with Supt Boyken to install three more hydrants at once. The group adjourned urging punctual monthly meetings.
