In Kansas on February 15, Bryan and Taft were endorsed for the presidency across fourteen counties. Democratic primaries backed Bryan unanimously, while Republican candidates who pledged to any candidate leaned toward Taft.
The Associated Press reports a severe flood spreading ruin across Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia. By 10 p.m. the Monongahela area showed 26 feet of water rising half a foot per hour, with fears of 30 feet by tomorrow and higher late Sunday. Dozens of towns face inundation, damages reach millions, and up to 20,000 workers are displaced on Pittsburg’s north side as police patrol in skiffs.

Reading, February 13. The Hood in the Behiyteill River reached its height tonight at nine feet above low water. The flood woke up without causing damage and began to recede after passing this point. No particular damage was sustained.
New York February 1 9 Jony Grant an unemployed painter leaped from the Brooklyn Bridge and landed among the river’s debris 200 feet below He was rescued by a boat crew and is now in hospital under arrest on a charge of attempted suicide He received minor injuries and is held for questioning.
Reports from Reno state Governor Sparks who had been ill for a week with neuralgia is much improved today. He suffered severe neuralgia and sleeplessness for several days but a change for the better occurred last night indicating recovery within days.
A dozen Missouri counties held presidential primaries to pick delegates to the state convention and a large majority of delegates were instructed to vote for Taft at the national convention.
A keen desire to realize profits pushed professional traders to sell after yesterday's gains from the New York bond sale. Outside demand failed to absorb the selling and prices fell sharply while bonds remained quiet and steady.
In Reno Fred Hope, recently arrived from Portland, was arrested in a gambling house by Shortt Ferrell for counterfeiting. Local authorities had been watching him as bogus money circulated in saloons. Hope denied gang ties but officers found dies metal and melting pots in his lodging room.
In San Francisco a bankruptcy petition was filed in U S district court against James Treadwell, director of the failed California Safe Deposit and Trust Co, by depositors Frieda Major Maud Ralston Kate O Connell John J O Connell and Charles O Connell. The charges include misappropriation and loaning on inadequate security with allegations of stock transfers valued at about 1000000.
Parson November 15 report states Thomas O. Blakey, president of the State Bank and Trust Company, was arrested on embezzlement charges after a depositor alleged the bank received deposits knowing it was insolvent. Bonds set under $10,000. warrants may target all directors with arrests planned for Monday.
The Esmeralda Grand Jury summoned Shaw J L Lindsay cashier and C H Wise assistant cashier of the State Bank and Trust Company to appear Thursday. Shaw will be asked about matters at other branches. The Frances Mohawk Leasing and Mining Company attachment, led by Donald Mackenzie, was dismissed and the sheriff left the bank building. Mackenzie says banks will resume but no date is set and depositors are advised not to discount accounts.
Washington moved to prosecute the Southern Pacific Company and certain officials over alleged rebates to shippers. The information stems from an interstate inquiry by Commissioner Franklin K. Lane. Cases will proceed once indictments are returned, targeting the company and possibly involved shippers as well.
Special to the Bonanza from Manhattan reports the Lemon mill cleaned up 12000 in bullion from Rose-Nash ore averaging 34 per ton. The Latime lease adjoining Rose-Nash sits 116 feet down with bottom ore at 30 per ton and water intrusion beginning. Pumps on the Rose-Nash lease work to remove the water as both claims on Dexter Union No 4 show promising ore yields.
A Me Four passenger train struck a Toledo and Western streetcar at West Toledo last night. Seven people died and around a dozen were injured. Authorities investigated the wreck and began a formal inquiry.
A group of twenty five miners narrowly escaped death from smoke and fire early today at the Brunswick wing of the mine near Grass Valley California. The fire started in the timbered woodwork near the pit mouth and the main drift was flooded making ventilation difficult. workers were rescued as they reached a safety station on the tunnel level and the danger subsided as conditions improved.
Frank H. Hitchcock ends his government service and on Monday will submit his resignation to the President. He will become manager of the Taft presidential campaign. Dr. Charles M. Grandfield, currently chief clerk, will succeed him.

The Emily Reed ran ashore near the Nehalem River mouth and flooded the beach for two miles southward. All 2110 tons of coil cargo washed away with the ship, leaving both vessel and cargo in total loss. death toll reported as eleven.

Guthrie Ohio February 5 Democratic primaries appoint delegates to the State convention and Denver convention. W J Bryan was endorsed by every one of the seventy five counties with delegates instructed to select an instructed Bryan delegation.
New York February 15 receivers named for the Mutual Reserve Life Insurance Company after policyholders filed. Charles J. Gould William F. Russell and Archibald Haynes were designated receivers each under a 100000 bond. Insolvency and inability to meet obligations cited by the court.
In Portland Oregon on February 15 reporter Wm Petrian found a man hanging from a fence with a rope around his neck. He cut the rope and believed the man dead but the pulse returned and the man kicked and struck him before fleeing into the darkness.
Rumors swirl around New York brokered by Hearst ties as Bryan faces potential Dermot erate nomination. The independence faction may shift support if Hearst swings full strength behind Bryan, with other states watching closely.
