Mexico City December 30 General Bernardo Reyes arrived at the military prison in San Diego after a freight route transport. A court martial panel was announced with General Jose Maria Mier, Jose Maria de la Vega, and Lauro Villar named as members. Mier formerly governed Nuevo Leon, once presided by Reyes. Vega led marine affairs and later commanded forces in Queretaro, Chihuahua, Monterey and Nuevo Leon. Villa was Vera Cruz military commander.
In Norfolk a storm drove a schooner into the torpedo boat Warrington causing collision damage. Fourteen crew members including officers remained aboard the Bowil while four injured men were transferred to the revenue cutter Conendaga. The Warrington lay eight or ten miles ahead of others when the schooner rammed in darkness and the vessel veered free.
