An American schooner rescued 85 crew from the Japanese freighter Tokayama Maru torpedoed unwarned off Anguette near Nova Scotia. The incident occurred August 7 as Allied forces pursued the Atlantic theater emergency.
Washington August seventh reports the American Railway Express Company an express combine formed with government backing sought Interstate Commerce Commission action on rate increases. In Houston Texas the commission and a wind storm near Quincy Louisiana yesterday caused damage and a second-class matter registration.
