Poisoned brain for grasshoppers used in orchards requires distance from young trees to avoid damage. Cochise county reports death of young trees linked to this method. Farm advisors urge planting winter grains on ground prepped for summer crops, especially where grasshoppers harmed yields. In many areas rains favor fall sowing of barley, wheat, and rye to mature in spring and escape drought.
