Will shorten road to Willcox by 20 miles
Sheriff Wheeler plans to employ ten to twelve bootleggers to rebuild an old road from Tombstone to Willcox, cutting the distance from 58 miles to about 36. The route runs north from Tombstone through Cochise Stronghold, to the Fourr ranch, then Dragoon, with Willcox about ten miles east of Cochise. The county considers the road crucial and believes a month with a ten-man crew can make it excellent.
