A Trip to the Paradise of Cochise
A. H. Gardner recounts a county trip with U S immigration Inspector Jett Milton into the San Rafael valley. He notes the region’s green landscape, poor roads, and isolation from Cochise county governance, advocating a new road from Garden Canyon to the divide to shorten travel, boost farming and mining, and aid military and forest service efforts. The plan could cut 35 miles of travel and unlock further settlement opportunities once conditions improve.
