Army draft call expected as local board pushes work
The local draft board said it expects orders from the War Department for a large call of men for class 1 and partial service, drawing mainly from the September 12 draft. About 800 men were examined last week and another 800 are planned next week, with total examinations reaching 1,500. Aiming to recruit 100 physically fit men for the next major call from Washington, the board expands clerical staff and may enlist high school helpers after the school year ends.
