Kress reports visit to Camp Funston by Cochise draftees
County Recorder Ray B Krebs, Cochise Exemption Board clerk, returned from Camp Funston where he observed the first Cochise County contingent. He noted noncommissioned officers among the draftees, strong morale, and a growing Camp Funston city with modern facilities. Krebs said drafted men adapt quickly, unlike regulars, and many Cochise boys favor the field artillery. The next Cochise contingent may depart around November 1 to complete the first quota.
