In Douglas on October 17 General Hill, leader of the Constitutionalist forces at Naco, orders immediate evacuation and advance toward Agua Prieta. He plans three marching columns with cavalry leading and rear, citing inactive mines and lost customs revenue at Naco. Agua Prieta port handles about 1,500,000 pesos monthly.

Battle at Naco Brings Heavy Casualties on Both Sides

In Naco Sonora last night four American troopers and three civilians were wounded by bullets from across the border. The fight began around midnight and lasted until 7 30 this morning with no change in positions. Two cavalrymen are believed to die from their wounds and one civilian will die.
