At a Cochise County Highway Commission meeting contracts were set for paving drainage and grading along the Benson Tombstone road with work to Caja at multiple sections. Bids reopen November 11 for Benson Tombstone Bikeway grading and drainage as crews prepare for section two from Forest Ranch to Pores Station and connections to the state highway near Benson.

Hayden Appointed Major in the Army

Former Tombstone Man Killed in Auto Accident

A letter from Miss Margo Barrowdale of Tombstone reports the death of her father, C7 Birrow ele, in an auto crash near Santa Monica, California after his car was struck by a Pacific Electric train. The vehicle was badly damaged and the body died within half an hour. The remains were shipped to San Diego for funeral services.

Death of Corporal Glenn N Shipley Infantry is confirmed after a telegram from the War Department to Grace Gable of Alexandria Indiana and Grant Shipley of Lowell. Shipley enlisted March in Munice Indiana trained at Camp Green N C later to Camp Mills New York and sailed for France. He previously lived here and worked in the Waren District mines.

Death from influenza reported in Warren district

Bisbee on October 11 reports the death of John Petero Fich who died yesterday morning at 5 o'clock after pneumonia developed from influenza. Survived by a wife and family residing in the city. Employed at the coal offices. The body remains at the Palace awaiting funeral arrangements.

Demurrers to indictments argued before Judge Morrow

In Tucson Arizona the demurrers to indictments against Bisbee citizens are set for hearing before Judge William Morrow of the United States circuit court of appeals for the Ninth District. The proceedings relate to alleged unlawful deportation in the mining district and he will preside during the stay for a United States court session at San Francisco. Judge Morrow helped organize the Arizona court at statehood and serves as a director of the Carnegie Institute and the National Red Cross. He plans a visit to the Desert Botanical Laboratory during his stay.

Arizona Murderer Caught Near Magdalena

Deputy Sheriff Boca of Socorro County arrested King in a wagon west of here on suspicion of murdering two men in Apache County on September 25. The bodies were weighted with rocks and thrown into Black River. Guns believed to belong to the victims were found with him. King was jailed here and to be moved to Socorro for county jail detention.
