State aids fight against diseased cattle in New Mexico
Dr. F J Lingo of the animal industry bureau at Albuquerque and state livestock sanitary officials plan an eradication program for bovine tuberculosis in New Mexico. The 15 000 dollar state appropriation will be matched by the federal government, with certificates after two negative tests or slaughter of diseased cattle. About 20 percent of permanent dairy herds are tubercular, officials say, and federal inspection last year led to 48 000 to 50 000 pounds of meat destroyed.
