Webb Lookout at 10 000 feet reached about 35 miles with signals seen at multiple stations. Eureka Peak at 3500 feet reached 25 miles with signals to two heliograph stations and two lookouts. One fire alarm was sent at Eureka Peak and one at View Ranger Station, with average daily use around six hours.
Friends across the state learn Colonel HL Pickett is recovering at the Mayo Clinic Rochester Minnesota from a serious illness. A letter from HB Pickett says a preliminary operation occurred on Saturday the 18th and healing is ahead with a major operation in two weeks expected to be successful.

The United States civil service announces an exam for the position of forest and field clerk to be held in Phoenix on December 13 1913. Eligible applicants will be registered and certified to vacancies as they occur, with salaries from 60 dollars. Applicants must file with the district secretary in San Francisco by December 5 1913 and seek further information from Secretary Craig of the Phoenix board of examiners.
