Death of Pioneer Woman Marthe Lyall in Douglas

Cochise county mourns as pioneer Marthe Lyall dies at 4 30 am in Douglas aged TR years residing in the territory 26 years. Her remains will be returned to Tombstone for burial beside husband son daughter and a deceased daughter. Relatives from Douglas Princeton Kentucky San Diego and other areas attend the funeral at one o clock tomorrow. Mrs Lyall was highly esteemed and Arizona loses a worthy pioneer and devoted parent.

Floods wipe out an Indian village in Cataract canyon

A Flagstaff dispatch reports the Supai Indian village in Cataract canyon about 50 miles east of Grand Canyon station was destroyed by floods on Sunday with several Indians missing and presumed dead. Indian Agent Bartley alerted the community and helped evacuate most residents as the stockmen’s home and tanks were washed away. Estimates indicate eight to twelve Indians drowned.
