Strong push to cut territorial costs and abolish offices
Governor and Mr. Parish push budget cuts across the Territory. They favor abolishing the Commissioner of Immigration and the Territorial Geologist, dissolving the Live Stock Sanitary Commission, and handing duties to stockmen and county officials. Proposals include reducing the Superintendent of Public Instruction salary, shifting Attorney General duties to the county district attorney, and reorganizing the Territorial prison to reduce expenses, with convict labor considered for part of the system.
