Prescott cattle breeding venture to use 5000 acre Yavapai farm
J W Sullivan plans to create Arizona's largest fine cattle breeding operation on 5000 acres in Williamson Valley Yavapai county. An initial shipment of 107 Devon head from Blythe California has arrived for winter pasture with spring relocation to Prescott. The herd will grow to include several hundred more, with land fenced and in use. Sullivan, a longtime range expert, aims to run the enterprise on a large scale and has secured registered cattle from San Diego County. Santa Gruz Supervisor drowns in Harshaw Creek flood
In Santa Gruz two miles from his home, Supervisor Walter C Fortune attempted to cross Harshaw Creek near Brash farm yesterday afternoon. He was swept away by four foot water as two horses looked on. Deputies found the horses and searched the stream as a bogey was seen passing downstream. The body had not been recovered at press time.
