Seven years in prison was the verdict imposed on banker J H Bacon by Judge Marehall of the United States District Court. Bacon, president of the National Bank in Batt Laxs, Utah, was found guilty by a jury of making false entries in his report to the Comptroller of the Currency.
In the Probate Court of Cochise County Arizona Territory notice is given that Tuesday December 28 1897 at 1 o clock p m in Tombstone will hear the application of Frank P Moore for letters testamentary and prove the will of Fred Heyne deceased any interested person may appear and contest the same W F Bradley Clerk Probate Court dated December 17 1897
A well known dealer in Fort Smith area assigned assets to W. J. Johnson of the Fort Smith National Bank for the benefit of creditors. He had operated in the city for about 25 years. Liabilities about 24000 with assets around 20000. Cause given as poor collections. The notice appears amid miscellaneous remedies and ads for patent medicines.
Reports from Corindos Tennessee and nearby areas describe multiple executions for murder including a man named Jobneou hanged for the fatal shooting of Farmer Boyd at Idaville August 5. A separate Crooked post office robbery is noted with losses over 1200 in stamps and cash.

Mrs Emily Thorne of Toledo Washington says it is the best medicine she has used. The notice lists multiple names and locations and notes that the remedies are for sale by all dealers and druggists.
